What is a Tulu?
Tulu is the English pronunciation for the Turkish word, "tuylu" meaning “hairy”. It is  pronounced “two-lou”. Tulu rugs are characteristically long-piled and woven from goat’s wool. Woven by Anatolian nomads, Tulus were originally used as warm blankets and mattresses to sleep on, similar to Moroccan Beni Ourain rugs.  The distinctly Turkish designs and color patterns are made with vegetable dyes.
